Quality and comfortable shoe perfect for a wide foot. Ideal runner that looks great. Highly Recommended.
No issues with the shoe, shipping was fast, surprised how quickly it was received from Australia to the U.S. shoe fits perfect, definitely will order from Tarkine again.
Men's Tarkine Trail Devil Running Shoe
The trail devil is one of the best trail shoes I have ever used, particularly for longer distances over technical trail.
Key impressions:
- While the toe box is wide, the foot does not twist or slip in the shoe thanks to a great midfoot lockdown, critical for technical trails. No major blisters.
- Durable. After running for several dozen miles on very rocky trails, the shoe still looks as new. (Other shoes such as Hokas and Altras have shown signs of wear at an equivalent point.)
- Comfortable midsole/cushioning. Plush enough to absorb impact on long downhills, while still stiff enough to provide rock protection.
- No toe bang.
- Relatively lightweight.
This shoe is best described as a combination of the Hoka Speedgoat and an Altra Lone peak or Timp. While Topo athletic has previously sought to create a Speedgoat-Lone peak combination, this shoe outshines Topo in all areas except for the outsole (Topo uses vibram).
Sizing: I would say that this shoe runs true to size. If you are a U.S. 10 in the Speedgoat, I would purchase a U.S. 10 trail devil.
There is not much I would change about this shoe, other than adding a vibram litebase outsole, and perhaps a couple extra millimeters of cushioning for longer distance efforts.
The biggest downside currently is that Tarkine does not seem to have North American distributors, so shipping times are lengthy and returning if the shoe size was wrong would be difficult.
