Honestly loving them so far, first two runs i PR'd the 10k without feeling like i was really pushing. Cushy but stable, feet not slipping around even without a lace lock. Quality kit
Late last year I blew a meniscus apart in a hockey final so took the back quarter of the year off running to recovery. Upon resuming running, I simply found that everything hurts let alone the knee. I received some advice to try the Autopilot from Tarkine so leapt in with a purchase and the shoes have been excellent for my bad knee. Everything else still hurts but that’s not the fault of the shoe! The extra padding in the sole has definitely improved comfort levels at heel strike impact and I’m running with much less pain than with my previous shoes. Happy customer!
I'm 188cm/82kg and was looking for a pair of high stack long run trainers to replace my NB More v4 for my ultra/triathlon training. I was honestly curious to see how they would stack up against the big brands. I've been through a lot of shoes and brands over the years and I must say, I am impressed.
The midsole is absolutely fantastic, similar feel to the NB but a lot more lively. It's cushioned with a nice bounce, my pace was way higher than I thought during my first run.. They roll nicely, very efficient without having a crazy unnatural rocker.
I read someone commenting about the design and for me it is a banger, the sand color looks amazing, a bit retro which I really love (like a nice pair of fancy sneakers), I even had a compliment which is rear enough to be mentioned.
Upper and fit is great with a gusseted tongue and nice padding. I was a bit worried out of the box when they didn't have the heel lock eyelets but I quickly realized I didn't need them, which is another rarity for me.
I think it's one of the best pair of trainers on the market at the moment, without being pro Aussies or anything, and with the re-run program it's actually a steal. My pair arrived brand new. I also think it could be a good marathon racer for mid pack runners or a very good ironman shoe, even has the heel pull tab for quick entry.
Overall very pleased with my first experience with Tarkine and I think I'll give the Trail Devil a go when I'm done with my Speedgoats.
I’ve not long returned to some running after a few years off. I’m not particularly fast, nor am I particularly fit but what I am, is totally in love with these shoes!! They’re Super comfy, and the only way I can describe them is to say that they’re like pillows for your feet. They are so easy on the feet and joints yet they don’t feel cumbersome when out running. Are they the fastest shoes out there? Probably not. Are they the best feeling shoes out there? I’d challenge you to find better, and let me know if you do!!
Tempted to get another pair just to rock around as daily kicks and maybe even for work.
As a dedicated trail runner I try to avoid the road. Unfortunately with some races it’s unavoidable, so I purchased a pair of the Autopilot. So comfortable 10/10. no sore feet, even without a wider frontfoot (toebox design). I am interested to see how many kilometres they last with me running about 15-20km on the road with them each week.
